  • Ghana's telecoms market recorded 12% year-on-year (YoY) growth in mobile subscriptions to reach 33.3 million by end-September 2015. The country's mobile penetration increased by 10 ppt over the same period to reach 123%, with the growth mainly supported by increased multi-SIM practices as subscribers seek to enjoy offers from different operators.
  • Ghana has made progress in LTE with three commercial deployments by the end of 2015, and a couple of others in various stages of deployment. MTN Ghana has recently won the 800MHz spectrum auction and has plans to launch soon.
  • The increased deployment of LTE services is driven by high demand for high-speed mobile broadband services from customers who desire to access rich-content digital services via smartphones and other smart devices.
