Highlights

  • Vodafone's service revenues fell 3.3% year on year in 2016 to €49.5bn ($52.2bn), and its total revenues fell 4.2% to €54.3bn. Its revenues fell 3.5% year on year in Europe and 4.76% in AMAP (Africa, Middle East, and Asia Pacific). The performance in AMAP slowed because of competitive pressure and demonetization impacts in India.
  • Liberty Global and Vodafone completed the creation of their Dutch 50/50 joint venture in December 2016. The operators named the joint venture "VodafoneZiggo" and began marketing activities under the new brand from January 2017.
  • Vodafone had a total of 470 million mobile customers at end-2016, of which 64.6 million were 4G customers. Vodafone's fixed broadband customer base grew to 14.3 million at end-2016. Germany, Spain, and Italy lead, with 6.1 million, 3.2 million, and 2.1 million subscribers, respectively.
