This report provides a view into optical market share and competitive trends for data center interconnect (DCI) during 3Q15. During the quarter global DCI revenues decreased 3.2% from 2Q15, to $690m, but were up 12.6% from the year before.


  • The global market for DCI paused in 3Q15, decreasing 3.2% from the 2Q15 level, but were 12.6% higher than in the year-ago quarter. Annualized DCI revenues of $2.7bn were up nearly 3% sequentially and 14% from the 3Q14 level.
  • CSPs still make up the greatest portion of DCI spending, but ICPs and CNPs have grown to the point where they make up greater than a third of all DCI spending.
  • Ciena leads all vendors with nearly 19% global share. Together, the top five vendors posted over $1.8bn of DCI revenues in 3Q15, representing 67% of all DCI spending.Of the top 10 vendors Infinera, Adva, and Cisco gained share in 3Q15 while Fujitsu, Huawei, Coriant, ZTE, BTI Systems, Ciena, and Alcatel-Lucent lost share.
