Introduction

At the recent AT&T 2016 Industry Analyst Summit in Dallas, AT&T shared its plans for extending its enterprise WAN offers. These types of next-generation services are what Ovum categorizes as virtual managed services. With its Network on Demand platform serving as a foundation, AT&T has expanded its networking portfolio and responded to customer pressure for an SD-WAN offer and new value-added services.

Highlights

  • The network service formerly known as Network Functions on Demand has a new name: Flexware. Service availability has increased, and AT&T also announced some new uCPE (universal CPE) options.
  • In addition, AT&T announced a new, smaller version of the uCPE form factor that now supports two network functions on demand.
  • And AT&T has added support for Palo Alto Networks’ security function. Availability has also increased to more than 150 countries and territories from the initial launch.
