This regional TV outlook report assesses the Central and Eastern European TV and OTT market up to and including 2021.

Highlights

  • Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) has historically been characterized by low purchasing power coupled with an abundance of piracy. However, following the launch of low-cost pay-TV services, pay-TV penetration is now at more than half of all TV households.
  • Operators are launching more sophisticated packages as part of a strategy to get existing consumers to sign up for more advanced offers. With steady growth projected for both subscriber numbers and ARPU, the value of the pay-TV market will continue to grow up to and including 2021.
  • Total pay-TV subscriber numbers for the region is expected to reach 94 million by 2021, up from 81 million in 2015. Monthly ARPU will reach $7.74 in 2021, up from $7.20 in 2015. Market value as a whole is expected to grow from $6.9bn in 2015 to $8.8bn by 2021.
