Introduction

Verizon Enterprise Solutions has gone through many twists and turns in the past few years. Acquisitions in other parts of the company took some attention away from its enterprise efforts, and executive leadership had turned over. Verizon now has an established leadership team in place, ongoing service development activities, and recent announcements that demonstrate its sustained investment and steady commitment in the enterprise market.

Highlights

  • Verizon Enterprise Solutions (VES) has gone through many changes since 2015, with some questioning Verizon's commitment to the enterprise market. In the summer of 2015, news that Verizon had considered a sale of the business was leaked
  • Verizon's M&A activity painted a confusing picture, focusing on its consumer and wireless businesses. Verizon sold off its cloud and data centers and sold its remaining former GTE ILEC properties to Frontier Communications.
  • Verizon also made major acquisitions and rebranded its IoT telematics program. More recently, it boosted its fiber network with the acquisition of XO Communications, which bolsters coverage for enterprise customers and adds wireless backhaul in major US markets.
