Introduction

This report provides an update on the performance of VimpelCom Group operations for the 12 months to end-3Q14, covering a company overview, market dynamics, key performance indicators, and analysis of strategic initiatives and key products of VimpelCom.

Highlights

  • The total number of Group subscribers increased by 2% year on year to 223.4 million in 3Q14. The biggest year-on-year subscriber net additions were in Bangladesh, Algeria, and Pakistan.
  • MTS and VimpelCom struck up a partnership to jointly build an LTE network. The move is aimed at accelerating LTE rollout to compete with its main rival, MegaFon, which currently leads the market by LTE coverage and subscribers.
  • In 2014 VimpelCom significantly expanded its LTE footprint across Russia, made huge changes to its data pricing, and launched LTE-A in Moscow. The operator also became the first operator to introduce data sharing in Russia with its “Internet on everything” service.
