Introduction

On April 11, 2019, Ofcom published three consultations related to the future of landline telephone services in the UK. These consultations follow a previous statement published in February 2019, which outlined the benefits of moving landline services from traditional PSTN networks to IP technology.

Highlights

  • One of Ofcom's proposals promotes trust in telephone numbers by pushing for a key change in the way numbers are used by networks, which should help tackle nuisance and scam calls.
