China Mobile continues to grow its home market subscription base, mostly due to the strong uptake of its 4G service. This report provides an update for China Mobile to end-2Q15.

Highlights

  • China Mobile has seen a twelve-fold increase in its 4G base in the past year, reaching 189.7 million at end-1H15, a 23% share of the total mobile base, compared to a 1.8% share a year earlier.
  • In June 2014 China Mobile International (CMI), a wholly owned subsidiary of China Mobile, entered into a share subscription agreement with Thailand’s True Corp, acquiring 18% of the total issued and outstanding shares of True Corp.
