SK Telecom continues to dominate South Korea's telecoms market. Its total number of subscribers rose 4.7% year-on-year, to reach 28.6 million at end-4Q14. It had 16.7 million LTE subscribers, or over 58% of its subscriber base.


  • In 2014, SK Telecom significantly improved its LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) capabilities and launched triband LTE-A. The operator introduced dedicated social media services (Angles and Cloud Game) and content services (BTV mobile streaming and T Baseball Multiview) to support the launch.
  • The operator has strengthened its focus on transferring established services outside its home market. In October 2014, it formed a joint venture with Celcom Axiata to launch e-commerce platform Celcom Planet in Malaysia.
