Introduction

In early 2013, Ovum provided an update on the healthcare programs of five large telcos during a period of major investment in vertical programs. Healthcare remains one of the major verticals targeted by large telcos, but the amount of investment and approaches differ from service provider to service provider.

Highlights

  • Telcos do have many assets that can add value to healthcare solutions: connectivity, geographic reach, and channel rise to the top. In addition, many telcos are developing new solutions via their innovation programs, but most efforts now are supported by a set of established healthcare players and partnerships that help telcos break into the healthcare ecosystem with scale.
  • We believe telcos should remain focused on their local regions to drive large-scale change and capture more of the revenue opportunity.
  • Government sponsorship and local regulations now drive many new service offerings, which tend to include remote, mobile, and rural care programs.

Features and Benefits

  • Get an update on the changes to healthcare programs and solutions for the larger carriers globally.
  • Learn how carriers have reduced and reorganized their healthcare programs and have matured to support and provide fewer but scalable solutions in healthcare and integrated many of the healthcare solutions into standard product and sales groups.

Key questions answered

  • What has changed in the major telcos' healthcare programs?
  • What are the common solutions in healthcare and what are the common products involved?
