Introduction

NetSuite hosted around 800 customers at its SuiteConnect event in Sydney in late September 2016. Several major announcements occurred during the event, but the key theme was that improvements and new features (e.g., new OneWorld features, SuiteCloud Development Framework, SuiteBilling) have been designed to help enterprises grow and internationalize. Therefore, NetSuite, in its own words, will be the only "ERP technology provider enterprises will ever need."

Highlights

  • Growth in the cloud market in Asia-Pacific has picked up, with the five-year CAGR expected to be just under 25%. The vast majority of enterprises in Asia-Pacific have a definitive cloud strategy, and the model of ownership of large physical IT infrastructure as the primary approach is firmly behind us. NetSuite is one of the original global software-as-a-service providers, but it now faces competition from legacy software vendors (e.g., Microsoft, SAP) that have turned up the heat in their efforts to establish leadership in this area. Also, the rise of born-in-the-cloud providers such as Workday and Salesforce has made this a very competitive industry.
