Introduction

The Wearable Devices Tracker is a database of wearable device models launched since early 2011, covering a wide variety of device features and specifications.

Highlights

  • In 3Q15, some 42 new wearable devices were launched, much fewer than the 73 wearables launched in 3Q14.
  • The average Smartness Index (as measured by Ovum) decreased from 1.82 to 1.69: the share of wearables with a Smartness Index of 3 and 4 decreased from 16% to 14% of the total wearables launched.
  • The share of swart watches launched stood at 16% of the total wearables, much less than in 3Q14, when they accounted for 41% of all wearables launched.
