T-Mobile serves the US market with wireless products and services. In 2Q15, T-Mobile surpassed Sprint to become the third largest operator in the US. T-Mobile ended 2Q15 with 58.9 million subscribers, up 16.6% from the year before.

Highlights

  • T-Mobile completed the shutdown of Metro PCS’s CDMA network in June 2015. It had been in the process of shutting down the network, market by market, since July 2014.
  • T-Mobile introduced Mobile Without Borders, eliminating roaming within North America for its customers by making Canada and Mexico part of the local service area.
  • T-Mobile was the fourth largest winner in the AWS-3 auction, spending $1.77bn on 157 licenses. These licenses add to T-Mobile’s already vast holdings of AWS-1 spectrum.
