  • Switzerland's telecoms market is highly matured, with the advantage of high-income households willing to pay for the best services. Mobile subscription count is forecast to grow over 7% between the end of 2019 and the end of 2024, while that of fixed broadband is forecast to grow 4% and that of pay TV to grow 0.4%.
  • Salt completed the sale of 90% of the share of its subsidiary Swiss Infra Services in August 2019 to Swiss Towers (Cellnex). Freenet, a German telecoms company that holds a 24.56% stake in Sunrise, was the main opponent of the failed CHF6.3bn Sunrise-UPC deal in 2019.
  • Salt Mobile, owned by Xavier Niel, entered the fixed market with the launch of its 10Gbps fiber broadband and TV service in 2018. All the four major operators, Swisscom, Sunrise, UPC (MVNO), and Salt, now offer fixed-mobile converged services.
