  • Ovum research shows the number of TV households in South Africa to be 13.6 million at the end of 2016, representing a penetration rate of 81% of households. With more than 6 million subscribers, pay TV represents 46% of TV households. Ovum forecasts that analog platforms will be fully phased out during 2021 – a little later than 2018, which the regulators had hoped for.
