This is an update of Singapore's telecoms market, covering fixed broaddband and mobile market trends and regulation. It includes service provider performance, multiplay services and bundling, MVNOs, and a TV/video market outlook.

  • Subscribers are increasingly showing interest in cheaper SIM-only postpaid plans. MNOs are enhancing their SIM-only service plans in the postpaid market, which is being targeted by all four MVNOs. SingTel, StarHub, and M1 revamped their SIM-only plans, reducing variants and increasing data allowance on mid- and high-end SIM-only plans.
  • Service providers have shown significant interest in retailing other utility services such as power. While Singtel partnered with Geneco to establish Singtel Power, M1's majority shareholder Keppel Corp also aims to leveraging synergies between M1's extensive customer base and Keppel's experience in retailing electricity price plans.
  • The pay-TV segment is challenged by cord-cutting. Pay-TV providers are trying to fend off the threat from OTTs by using various tactics, such as integrating OTT video services into their STBs and creating their own OTT services and TV Everywhere apps, but the decline in pay-TV subscribers has not slowed.
