As part of Ovum's ongoing Telco Services Innovation Radar project, we reviewed 87 announcements of innovative services by service providers around the world. This month's most innovative announcement was from Deutsche Telekom, which has formed a joint venture with FireEye to provide cybersecurity-as-a-service to European companies.


  • Partnering with an established security vendor clearly makes strategic sense for both DT and for other telcos looking to add value to their existing enterprise offering.

Features and Benefits

  • Security is extremely high on the agenda of companies following the spate of recent highly publicized security breaches around the world. Companies will now be assessing with renewed focus how to reinforce their cyber-defense capabilities.
  • Because DT and FireEye’s partnership leverages core and highly complementary competencies, it can also serve as something of a model for other telcos looking to strike valuable partnerships that build on the value of their core connectivity offerings and also extend them into new areas.
