Our selection for innovation of the month is T-Mobile USA's caller verification technology, which gives customers enhanced protection from the widespread and growing nuisance of so-called scammers and spammers.

Highlights

  • In January 2019, T-Mobile became the first carrier in the US to offer caller verification technology, which aims to prevent scammers and spammers from being able to spoof someone's caller ID. This occurs when scammers temporarily hijack a phone number to match the area code and three-digit prefix of the person they are targeting, making the incoming call look familiar.
