Introduction

A detailed update of the Americas TV market, encompassing free-to-air and pay TV across all TV technologies, plus next-generation TV initiatives and OTT video. Includes TV revenues, market shares, programming, and advertising.

Highlights

  •  The creation of a sophisticated pay-TV environment in North America has enabled operators to keep growing their pay-TV revenue, even in years when the total subscriber base has declined. Ovum expects this to level off, however, with the impact of declines in pay-TV subscriber numbers expected to only just be offset by ongoing ARPU increases.
  • In Latin America, pay-TV growth will be impressive – pay-TV subs will increase by more than 13 million over the next five years – but swift growth in the number of TV households will leave pay-TV penetration growing only a little from 42% in 2016 to 44% in 2021. Therefore, Ovum sees strong opportunities for even further subscriber growth.

Features and Benefits

  • Gain an insight into how the pay-TV and TV advertising sectors are faring in North America and Latin America.
  • Assess the prospects for multiscreen/OTT initiatives in North American and Latin American TV markets.

Key questions answered

  • How are pay-TV operators innovating to ensure continued subscriber growth in a mature North American market?
