Summary

With the help of the Apperian mobile application management (MAM) solution, PostNL, a mail, parcel, and e-commerce corporation with operations in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and the UK, is on a journey to transform the way that mail will be delivered in Europe. The strategy adopted by the company well represents the importance of aligning with an enterprise mobility strategy that considers not only the devices that employees want to use, but also the apps that enable productivity.

Mobility is a key component of PostNL's digital transformation efforts

Apperian recently announced PostNL as a customer of its MAM solution. In utilizing the established enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution, PostNL is securing and distributing mobile apps to more than 50,000 of its employees (including mailmen, office workers, drivers, and contract workers). The objective for PostNL is to mobilize the customer experience delivered and to shift from a traditional mail delivery service to one with a large online operation, with cloud and mobile technologies being key to this digitization effort.

The modern workforce is one that relies on numerous devices and applications to get work done. In a bid to improve personal productivity levels, PostNL recognized that many employees were transitioning from the use of corporate-owned devices to BYOD. In developing its enterprise mobility strategy, the company recognized the need to facilitate the secure delivery of mobile apps to employees who were using their own devices for work purposes. The strategy adopted by PostNL, coupled with its utilization of both mobile device management (MDM) and MAM technologies, demonstrates a mature and desirable approach to enterprise mobility. Applying MAM technology to its environment allows PostNL to be more flexible in who it can deliver mobile apps to, and increases its overall security posture by applying management and security policies to individual apps. PostNL recognizes that it is not just device choice and convenience that is driving enterprise mobility, but also a need for employees to have access to a wide variety of mobile apps.

PostNL will utilize the Apperian solution to enable its mobile strategy, from testing apps for its customers to securely distributing apps to internal, BYOD, and extended enterprise workers. The company will also rely on Apperian as a continuous integration and continuous development (CICD) platform for consumer and enterprise apps, as well as for automating distribution and app signing.
