This is an update of Indonesia's telecoms market, covering fixed broadband and mobile market trends and regulation. It includes service provider performance, multiplay services and bundling, MVNOs, and a TV/video market outlook.

Highlights

  • Indonesian mobile operators struggling to maintain revenue growth in a data-centric market are adopting strategies to boost data consumption and improve ARPU and are accelerating expansion of network coverage. Fixed broadband service providers have the greatest growth potential and are investing to extend network footprints and to improve broadband speed.
  • The Indonesian mobile market has 2G, 3G, and 4G customers. W-CDMA ended 2017 with the largest market share at 45%. LTE is expected to be the leading technology with the largest subscription base by end-2020, as operators are driving the migration from 2G/3G to 4G by implementing strategies including a migration program and 4G device bundles.
