This report discusses key findings from Ovum's Global OTT Video Bundling Deals and Service Partnerships Tracker: 1Q19.

Highlights

  • Partnership growth and evolution continue at a robust pace. With more new alliances recorded in the six months to end-1Q19 than in any previous six-month period, the appetite for collaboration between network operators and paid online video providers shows no sign of abating in the near future.
  • Partnerships are driving pay-TV−OTT convergence. Although MNOs and fixed broadband telcos remain the dominant operator partner types, traditional cable and satellite pay-TV providers are stepping up efforts to incorporate third-party OTT options.
  • Service integrations are increasingly enhanced by direct carrier billing (DCB). Although tariff bundling and TV platform integration are important alliance objectives, each is present in only around a third of existing deals.
