Highlights

  • Telenor had 175.8 million mobile subscribers in 3Q17, up 6% year on year, driven by increases in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Myanmar. This increase was partly offset by a subscription loss of 1.7 million in Thailand.
  • Telenor agreed to sell its business in India to Airtel. In June 2017, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the deal, and Airtel gained shareholders’ approval in September 2017. The deal is expected to be closed in 1Q18.
  • Telenor and Telia have signed a managed services contract with Nokia in August 2017 to outsource their joint Danish mobile network (TT-Network) in order to improve coverage and offer greater capacity. The network consists of more than 4,000 mobile sites around the country.
