This is an update on the Slovenia telecoms market, covering mobile, fixed broadband, operator initiatives, M&A, and regulation. It includes subscription, revenue, and technology forecasts for mobile and fixed broadband.

  • In 2Q17, Slovenia’s mobile subscriber base grew by 0.75% year on year to reach 2.3 million. The four major mobile operators, Telekom Slovenije, A1, Tus Mobil, and T-2, held market shares (by subscriber base) of 46.81%, 31.01%, 18.38%, and 3.80%, respectively.
  • Operators are continuously investing in their networks and services because of intense competition. For instance, A1 Slovenia extended its mobile LTE network to 225 white spots by May 2017; T-2 launched LTE services in 4Q16, and Telekom Slovenije launched Slovenia’s first VoLTE services in March 2017.
  • The launch of two new MVNOs, HoT mobile and Softnet, gave rise to competitive pricing. Telekom Slovenije’s Cvekaj Mobi postpaid plan has been lowered to €7.95 from €9.95/month. It also launched speed-based pricing for business customers in April 2017, lowering the prices of mobile services significantly.
