This research analyzes operators' consumer pricing for mobile broadband (MBB) access in data add-on plans for smartphones; data-only plans for non-handset devices such as dongles and tablets; and integrated service plans, which include other plan elements such as voice, messaging, and potentially other telco value-added services or over-the-top services.


  • Ovum tracked 731 mobile broadband plans throughout 4Q17 across major operators in 11 Middle Eastern countries. Of those, Ovum tracked a high share of integrated plans and found a healthy demand for data-only plans.
  • Ovum tracked a share of plans with service periods that are shorter than 30 days. However, the vast majority (77% in 4Q17) of plans tracked continued to be of a service period of 30 days.
