This detailed spreadsheet provides communications provider revenues, capex, and capital intensity from 2008 to the most recent quarter. The scope of the tracker has now expanded to include CSP, ICP, and CNP data.


  • Global CSP revenues declined by 0.1% for the year ended December 2016, while capex declined by 5.0%, thus pushing down capital intensity (capex/revenues) to 18.0% for the year.
  • North America and OESEA regions witnessed decent increase in CSP revenues during 4Q16, while LATAM and Eastern Europe also ended the year on a positive note. All other regions registered declines, with Africa and Western Europe recording the steepest drops in revenues during the quarter.
  • The US displaced China to be the highest spender in terms of CSP capex during 4Q16. However, among the top 15 spenders, Saudi Arabia registered the sharpest increase in capex during the quarter.
