Introduction

The Ovum Cloud Services Survey presents the results of a global online survey of 802 enterprise IT decision-makers representing 11 industry verticals in 13 countries. Respondents shared their plans for both public and private cloud adoption and use.

Highlights

  • The Ovum Cloud Services Survey reveals that while enterprise spending plans for public cloud account for a growing proportion of the IT budget, they will remain steadfastly below 15% of the budget for most respondents even by 2020.
  • Even more tellingly, only a twelfth of survey respondents expect to be running more than 20% of their workloads in public clouds by 2020.
  • While the journey to cloud will inevitably lag enterprise aspirations, customers are nevertheless highly satisfied with their public cloud service providers. If the journey to cloud is slower than public cloud service providers pretend, it is because of the additional complexities of hybrid IT.

Features and Benefits

  • Compare aspirations for cloud with those of peers in the same industries or in similar parts of the world.
  • Assess the opportunities to deliver complementary services to midsize to large enterprises.

Key questions answered

  • What proportion of their workloads do enterprise customers expect to run in the cloud in the next three years?
  • What are the main challenges or impediments to adopting public cloud?
  • How satisfied are users with the leading public clouds?
  • Which industry sectors expect to be the most enthusiastic adopters of public cloud?
