Operators are using the LTE connection in the hybrid router as a tool to enhance their fixed broadband speed tiers, to as much as up to 300Mbps.

  • The hybrid router combines or "bonds" the throughput of both fixed and mobile networks. The ability to expand broadband capacity with this router gives integrated operators a competitive advantage over their fixed-only or mobile-only rivals.
  • With no costly network upgrade required other than the CPE cost, deploying a hybrid router is an economical way to boost broadband speeds and reliability, particularly in rural areas where upgrades to Gfast or FTTH may not be viable.
  • Deutsche Telekom has had success in retaining and attracting rural customers with this hybrid router. Other operators should see similar benefits. But it’s still early days for the router in terms of operator adoption and in proving to be a successful tool.
