David Bannister is a principal analyst in Ovum's Financial Services Technology team. He covers wholesale payments, transaction and corporate banking, financial market infrastructures, and analysis of the fintech sector.

David has been writing about technology for 36 years, specializing in financial services technology for 25. He has contributed to Dealing with Technology, Waters magazine, Financial Markets IT, Financial News, as well as The Daily Telegraph, The Financial Times, The Times, and BBC Radio 4, Channel 4 News, and Sky News.

He’s a well-known panellist and speaker and has taken part in international conferences, including Swift's Sibos, the International Payments Summit, EBAday, and the ISITC Vendor Forum.

David has provided consultancy and training for leading IT and financial technology providers including IBM, HP, Misys, and others.

Before joining Ovum in 2016, David spent 12 years as the editor of Banking Technology.
